The service coincides with a “Wrapped” report for listeners/fans, which shows which tracks they streamed most. Spotify sent an email last week to all artists registered for the Spotify for Artists program, with a link to “2019 Wrapped for Artists.” You need to be an artist with music on Spotify, but that’s it – the company even says you only needed three (!) listeners prior to the end of October to qualify for the “Wrapped” report. Putting aside the streaming business model itself for a moment, though, let’s consider what artists are doing here. There are reasons to distribute music to streaming services, and ways of leveraging that distribution to financial benefit (albeit largely indirect). Submit your songs to us via SubmitHub or MusoSoup to be guaranteed a listen.First, before I sound immediately anti-Spotify or anti-streaming, this isn’t necessarily about that. Thank you and you’re welcome! We get hundreds of emails per day and some slip through the net. Spotify have very kindly created a great FAQ section for all things you can do with your Spotify Artist profile so it shouldn’t take you too long to get it updated. What are you waiting for? If you don’t have these details on your About page then do it now or if it’s your publicist that does it then tell them to do their job properly and get them to update it for you. We’re currently working with Ben to help promote him and you can see by adding his song to our ‘ Dark‘ playlist has bagged him more listeners – every little helps! The About page also shows how many listeners an artist has had from being featured on our playlists. Be like Ben! As you can see below Ben Davidson has everything updated and has the perfect About page… There’s also a Bio section which allows us to find out more about the artist if we need to write a ‘ Fresh‘ feature about them. When there are no links it sometimes takes too long to find the Facebook page or Twitter account so we simply have to give up and the artist misses out on a mention. If we are listening to a song on Spotify and want to tag it on Facebook post or share it on Twitter, it’s so much easier to go to the artists ‘About’ page and click on the social media links directly from there.
